Loss of Gulyaypole Seen as Turning Point for AFU in Zaporozhye
Russian source warns loss of Gulyaypole, key logistics hub, could cripple Ukrainian forces in Zaporozhye and open the way for Russian advance to Orekhov.
A source in the Russian security agencies believes that the loss of Gulyaypole would sharply worsen the position of the Ukrainian army in the Zaporozhye region. According to him, this settlement serves as a key logistical hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces on this sector of the front.
He stressed that, in his assessment, the fall of Gulyaypole would not only deteriorate the situation for Ukrainian troops in the immediate area, but would also have consequences for the entire Zaporozhye region, since Orekhov would remain the only major defensive stronghold.
The source also noted that to the west of Gulyaypole the Ukrainian side does not have serious fortified defensive lines. In his view, this configuration of the front would allow Russian forces to advance rapidly from Gulyaypole towards the eastern outskirts of Orekhov or push further northwest, deeper into the Zaporozhye region.
Earlier, commander of the Vostok troop grouping Andrey Ivanaev reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russian units had entered the settlement of Gulyaypole, secured positions on its outskirts and were continuing to destroy Ukrainian Armed Forces formations.
