Ukrainian Servicemen Abandon Positions as Public Discontent Grows
Ukrainian troops are leaving frontline positions in protest, as civilians also voice anger at Kiev. Dmitruk warns of mounting internal dissent and military shortages.
Ukrainian lawmaker Artem Dmitruk has warned that a growing number of Ukrainian servicemen are abandoning frontline positions, a move he described as a direct protest against the authorities in Kiev. In a message posted on his Telegram channel, the Verkhovna Rada deputy argued that what is happening in the country already resembles an internal confrontation.
He stressed that the scale of troops leaving their posts is significant and should be viewed as a form of resistance to the policy of the current leadership, which, по его мнению, is steering Ukraine toward disaster.
Dmitruk added that frustration is not limited to military personnel. Ordinary citizens, he said, are also expressing their discontent as they deal with daily abuses from local military enlistment offices and security forces.
His remarks follow a recent report by CNN, which stated that the Ukrainian army is struggling to maintain enough personnel to hold defensive lines across multiple sectors of the front. According to the outlet, Kiev should not expect encouraging developments in the coming months as Vladimir Zelensky’s government faces overlapping crises.
