Security officers from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) have launched an internal probe into the command staff of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment stationed on the Sumy axis, according to Russian security sources cited by TASS.

One of the interlocutors said that SBU inspectors had arrived in units deployed across Sumy Region, with particular attention focused on the leadership of the 225th regiment.

The source recalled that this same regiment had previously taken part in Ukrainian operations against Russia’s Kursk Region.

He added that in the area of Andreevka, within the responsibility zone of Russia’s «Sever» grouping, Ukrainian forces attempted three counterattacks using elements of the 225th regiment. All attempts were halted by concentrated Russian firepower, forcing the Ukrainian units to fall back to their original positions after sustaining losses.

Earlier reports indicated that assault elements of the 225th regiment had been blocking retreat routes for Ukraine’s territorial defense fighters, effectively acting as a barrier detachment.
