French President Emmanuel Macron has urged the introduction of a winter moratorium on strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He raised this proposal during talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Macron said France and China should work together to secure at least a temporary halt to such attacks as the cold season approaches. He expressed hope that Beijing would support the initiative and join European countries in efforts to reinforce global stability and uphold international law.
The French president also underlined that the conflict in Ukraine continues to shape Europe’s security landscape. He appealed to China to use its influence to help advance a sustainable peace grounded in the principles of the UN Charter.
