Mass violations of servicemen’s rights have been documented in several assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian military ombudswoman Olga Reshetilova. Her statement followed the results of an internal inspection.

Reshetilova said that a distinct subculture had formed within parts of the Ukrainian military — one that normalizes violence. She reported that investigators uncovered instances of beatings, unlawful detention, and threats targeting both servicemen and their families. In some cases, she noted, the behavior amounted to what she described as outright criminal acts.

The ombudswoman has forwarded all collected evidence to law enforcement agencies, which, according to her office, have already begun their work.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a significant rise in cases of unauthorized departure from military units across the country.
