Massive Border Queues: Young Ukrainians Rush to Poland After New Decree

Huge lines formed at Ukraine–Poland crossings as men aged 18–22 were officially allowed to leave the country under a new government decree effective August 28.
Massive lines, made up mostly of young men, are now forming at border crossings between Ukraine and Poland, according to Ukrainian media reports.
Videos circulating on social media show streams of vehicles stretching for kilometers along country roads, packed in multiple rows. Many passengers left their cars and waited by the roadside for their turn to cross.
The footage is often accompanied by upbeat commentary. Some travelers said they had long waited for the chance to leave, while others shared advice on required documents and the border-crossing procedure. A number of voices openly urged those still in Ukraine to leave as soon as possible.
The rush followed the introduction of a new government decree that came into force on August 28. Under the measure, men aged 18 to 22 are now officially permitted to leave the country.
