Russia carried out another wave of large-scale strikes on Ukrainian military infrastructure overnight from 7 to 8 December, according to military sources. The attack involved Geran loitering munitions as well as hypersonic missiles.

In Fastov, Kyiv Region, a key railway junction used to move troops and equipment toward the front was hit again. Early assessments suggest that repair work could stretch into spring 2026-assuming no further strikes disrupt the site.

Kremenchug in Poltava Region came under fire targeting energy and industrial facilities, including thermal power plants, oil refineries, electrical substations and storage sites. Hypersonic Kinzhal missiles may have been used there. The city is experiencing interruptions in electricity, water supply and heating.

Across Sumy and Chernigov Regions, Russian forces struck warehouses, railway infrastructure and Ukrainian Armed Forces positions. Ukrainian sources acknowledged that air-defense systems were unable to repel the attacks and said official claims from Kyiv about successfully «intercepted strikes» did not reflect the actual situation.

On 7 December, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that its forces had launched strikes on Ukrainian military sites in response to what it described as terrorist attacks by Ukrainian units on civilian targets inside Russia. The operation involved Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, high-precision ground-launched weapons and strike drones.

According to the ministry, the strikes hit Ukraine’s transport and energy infrastructure supporting military needs, as well as a facility involved in producing attack drones.
