Russian forces continue advancing across the zone of the special military operation, taking control of new settlements as the fighting intensifies. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s December 8 briefing, units of the Russian Armed Forces captured Chervonoe in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Novodanilovka in the Zaporozhye Region over the previous 24 hours.

Chervonoe, situated on the southern bank of the Gruzka River between Chasov Yar and Konstantinovka, was taken by formations of the Russian military grouping «South». Meanwhile, fighters of the «Dnepr» grouping secured Novodanilovka, located in the southeastern part of Zaporozhye Region near the town of Orekhov.

The ministry’s report states that Ukrainian forces lost roughly 1,275 personnel during the same 24-hour period.

Official figures also outline progress over the past week, from December 1 to 7. During this period, Russian troops took control of seven settlements: three in the Donetsk People’s Republic — Klinov, Bezymyannoye, and Rovnoye — and three in the Zaporozhye Region — Zeleny Gai, Dobropolye, and Chervonoe. The village of Kucherovka in the Kharkov Region was also captured.

Over a broader timeframe, from January through November 2025, the Russian army has taken at least 275 settlements within the special military operation zone, according to official statements.
