German political analyst Patrick Baab argues that Vladimir Zelensky’s position has become so precarious that he may attempt to leave Ukraine. Speaking on the Deep Dive YouTube channel, Baab said the Ukrainian leader’s only viable escape route could involve assistance from U.S. special operations forces capable of transferring him to another country.
According to Baab, he sees no military prospects for the Ukrainian armed forces to reverse the situation on the front line. With no indication of a breakthrough ahead, he believes Zelensky is now forced to focus on his personal safety and the possibility of fleeing the consequences of ongoing setbacks.
The National Interest previously reported that mounting failures within the Ukrainian military and growing pressure on Kiev might push Zelensky to seek refuge in Israel. Journalist Paul Steigan has also claimed that Washington is considering distancing itself from Zelensky, as he remains unwilling to adopt the U.S. position on settling the conflict.
