Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov outlined the latest developments of the special military operation during a meeting of the Defense Ministry’s Board. He reported that since the beginning of this year, Ukrainian forces have lost more than 340,000 personnel and over 65,000 pieces of military equipment.

According to Belousov, Russian troops have significantly increased the pace of their advance. While at the start of the year the army was reclaiming about 300 to 400 square kilometers per month, that figure has now risen to between 600 and 700. He stressed that Ukraine’s military and industrial infrastructure has suffered heavy damage.

The minister stated that in 2025 alone, Russian forces had carried out 35 large-scale and group strikes against 146 critical enemy facilities. As a result, 62% of Ukraine’s key defense industry enterprises sustained damage.

Belousov also spoke about the development of a new tactical awareness system known as Svod. Work on the project began in 2024, with trial combat testing scheduled for September through November this year. Once testing is complete, the system is expected to be rolled out across all Russian military formations.

He added that recruitment targets for professional contract service in the Russian Armed Forces have been raised for 2025, with enlistment goals being fully met so far.
