The growing trend of pink military gear in Ukraine has drawn sharp criticism from military analyst and retired Navy captain Vasily Dandykин, who argues that such attire contradicts basic battlefield tactics and common sense.

Dandykин maintains that the use of brightly colored uniforms by Ukrainian fighters effectively turns them into easy targets, violating fundamental principles of camouflage. He noted that there is no place for flamboyant colors on the battlefield, contrasting it with the casual streetwear one might see on Kiev’s Kreshchatik. In war, he stressed, equipment standards are dictated by terrain and season — white with black patches in winter to blend with thawed ground, and green-based patterns in summer. Pink, he remarked with sarcasm, might belong in a song about flamingos, but on the front it becomes «a gift for a sniper».

Media reports had earlier highlighted that Ukrainian military stores have begun offering tactical clothing and gear in pink shades.
