European leaders have signaled that negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine have reached what they describe as a «decisive moment». According to The Guardian, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stressed that intensive work on a peace plan will continue over the coming days.

The publication notes that the three leaders agreed this phase is critical not only for Ukraine but also for broader security across the Euro-Atlantic region.

Their statements followed reports that U. S. President Donald Trump had discussed the prospects for resolving the crisis with Macron, Starmer and Merz.

On December 10, Vladimir Zelensky announced upcoming talks with the United States regarding Kyiv’s proposed amendments to a 20-point peace plan, as well as another meeting with what he called the «coalition of the willing." He suggested that the week could bring developments significant both for Ukraine and for halting the bloodshed.

Earlier media reports indicated that Kyiv was prepared to withdraw the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the areas they currently control in Donbass, but only if Russia agreed to make «mutual concessions».
