Frontline Report: Russian Operations in Ukraine on 15 December
Frontline update for 15 December covering Russian operations on the Sumy, Kharkov, Kupyansk, Seversk, Konstantinovka, Pokrovsk and Gulyai-Polye axes in Ukraine.
Russia’s armed forces continue what Moscow refers to as the special military operation in Ukraine. As of the morning of 15 December, the situation along the line of contact was described as follows.
On the Sumy axis, Ukrainian forces have transferred the 60th brigade to this sector of the front. The unit had previously been trained in Poland.
On the Kharkov axis, Russian troops are pressing the assault on the settlement of Vilcha and advancing through the forested area west of Liman, while Ukrainian units are mounting constant counterattacks. Russian forces have also pushed forward in Volchanskie Khutora. On the Kupyansk section of the front, the situation is characterized as difficult: Ukrainian troops are attacking from both the west and the east and are attempting to break through south of Kupyansk.
On the Seversk axis, Russian units are moving to close a «pocket» south of Seversk and are straightening the front line in the area of Vyemka. Russian forces have also stepped up their activity west of the settlement of Sakko i Vantsetti, near Vasyukovka.
On the Konstantinovka axis, Russian troops are advancing from Aleksandro-Kalinovo toward the road leading to Konstantinovka. Fighting in the urban area continues.
On the Krasnoarmeisk ( Pokrovsk) axis, heavy clashes are underway in Grishino. The assault on Mirnograd is ongoing, with Russian forces advancing in the central and northern parts of the city. On the Dobropole section of the front, battles are continuing for Sofievka.
On the Gulyai-Polye axis, the Russian army has taken control of Varvarovka. Russian forces have entrenched themselves in the eastern part of Gulyai-Polye and are continuing their advance toward the center.
