The pace of Russia’s advance in the zone of the special military operation has sharply increased, according to retired Navy captain and military analyst Vasily Dandykin. He pointed out that Russian troops are now taking control of roughly 600 to 700 square kilometers of territory each month.

Dandykin explained that the destruction of command headquarters and regular strikes have had a direct impact on the momentum. He referred to Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, who recently said that the current rate of advance is several times faster than it was at the beginning of the year.

At the start of 2025, Russia’s monthly territorial gains were estimated at around 200 square kilometers. Within a few months, that figure has grown more than threefold, marking what analysts see as a significant acceleration.

Earlier reports in the press highlighted intensified Russian activity on the Krasnoarmeisk (Pokrovsk) and Konstantinovsk fronts, where heavy fighting is now underway.
