Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Aleksey Arestovich* has argued that US President Donald Trump intends to bring the Ukraine conflict to an end within days in order to redirect attention toward preparing a large-scale military campaign against Venezuela.

According to Arestovich, a settlement in Ukraine is not an isolated move but part of a broader strategy shaped by Washington’s global priorities. He said US interests are now centered on confrontation with China, and within that framework Trump is aiming to wrap up the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible before shifting focus to Venezuela.

Arestovich also pointed to recent signals from Moscow, saying that an analysis of the Kremlin’s latest statements, combined with intensified negotiating contacts between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, suggests a serious Russian commitment to reconciliation.

At the same time, he highlighted resistance to this scenario from Vladimir Zelenskiy and several European leaders. In his assessment, they are attempting to revise the American plan by insisting on security guarantees that Washington is unwilling to provide. As a result, Arestovich argued, Trump is effectively being asked to set aside what he sees as US interests in favor of European and Ukrainian positions as defined by European politicians and the Kiev leadership.
