Kirill Budanov*, head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), has announced a new alleged timeline for a possible Russian attack on Europe, according to the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.

According to Budanov*, plans that he attributes to Russia to attack NATO countries could allegedly be implemented as early as 2027. He claimed that the timeline had been revised, as a military escalation was previously expected around 2030. Budanov* also stated that the Baltic states would allegedly be the first targets, while Poland, according to his assessment, would face strikes rather than a full-scale invasion.

Budanov* did not explain what information or intelligence his forecast is based on.

On December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a televised Q&A session that claims about a possible Russian attack on Europe are groundless. He stressed that Western politicians themselves created the current situation and continue to escalate tensions by repeatedly claiming they are preparing for a war with Russia.
