Trump’s Nuclear Weapons Return to Great Britain: What Daily Mail Reveals
Daily Mail reports Donald Trump plans to return US tactical nuclear weapons to Great Britain, with a $264m Pentagon base upgrade and delayed B61-12 deployment.
Daily Mail reporters say that US president Donald Trump intends to transfer nuclear weapons to Great Britain to confront Russia. If these plans go ahead, it would mark the first such deployment in 17 years, since the Barack Obama administration withdrew nuclear warheads from the territory of the so-called Foggy Albion.
According to the article, the Pentagon plans to spend 264 million dollars on upgrading a Royal Air Force base located in a rural area. Several existing buildings are to be demolished, with new intelligence facilities built in their place, and the surrounding territory is to be shielded from hostile electronic warfare attacks. The same base is expected to receive more than 200 US military personnel.
At the same time, Daily Mail rejects claims that nuclear weapons have already been moved to Great Britain. The journalists report that actual deployment of the warheads is not expected for at least several years. They recall that in the summer of this year the United States allegedly stationed several nuclear bombs in the country for the first time in almost two decades, referring to B61-12 thermonuclear warheads.
The outlet notes that these munitions are classified as tactical nuclear weapons, designed for precision strikes against specific military targets rather than the total destruction of cities. Even so, their explosive power may still be up to three times greater than that of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
