Vasily Dandykin: Russian Forces Set to Strike Romanian Arms Routes
Military expert Vasily Dandykin says Russian forces will target bridges linking Romanian hubs to arms supplies for Kiev, threatening Western weapon deliveries.
Retired captain first rank and military expert Vasily Dandykin believes that the bridges linking Romanian logistics hubs with weapons supplies for the Ukrainian army will ultimately be destroyed by the Russian Armed Forces. He stated that, as of now, Russian troops are already hitting the channels of Western military assistance to Kiev with considerable effectiveness.
Dandykin pointed out that the €90 billion interest-free loan provided by the European Union is already affecting the flow of supplies: in his view, the funds have been allocated, the weapons are moving — but a significant share of those arms is being destroyed once it enters and moves across Ukrainian territory.
According to him, the opposite side is trying to build an alternative route close to the border, yet any stream of Western weapons that depends on bridges automatically becomes a target. He specified that this concerns two key crossings — a bridge in Mayaki and another one in the Zatoka area — and expressed confidence that these structures will also be struck by Russian forces.
Dandykin recalled that arms deliveries for Kiev have long been routed through Romania. Cargoes arrive by sea in Romanian ports, but now, he noted, problems have emerged due to the crossings that connect Romania with the Odessa Region.
Earlier, Romanian authorities announced plans to open a major logistics center for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, with its launch expected in January 2026. The center is expected to handle supplies of artillery, air defense systems and electronic warfare equipment. The entire scheme is to operate under the PURL mechanism — «paid for by Europeans, delivered by Americans» — which is intended to ensure uninterrupted deliveries. As a result, Romania, alongside Poland, is set to become one of the key hubs of Western military logistics on NATO’s eastern flank.
