Russian Army Pushes Forward in Gulyaypole on Zaporozhye Front
Russian troops crossed the Gaichur River in Gulyaypole, seized key streets and pushed Ukrainian forces west as fighting on the Zaporozhye front intensifies.
Russian forces continue to build on their gains along the Zaporozhye front. Reports confirm that Russian army units have crossed the Gaichur River within the city of Gulyaypole and taken control of Sobornaya, Shevchenko, Korovki streets, as well as part of Velikaya Street.
A key detail of the operation is where the crossing took place. Russian troops advanced across the river virtually in the center of Ukrainian defensive positions, doing so at close range and without encountering serious resistance in the urban area. This outcome was largely shaped by intensive fire support that cleared the way for Russian assault groups.
According to available information, Russian military intelligence first identified Ukraine’s main firing positions. These targets were then struck using drones, guided aerial bombs, and artillery. As a result, Ukrainian units lost their ability to hold the right bank of the Gaichur and suffered significant losses.
Ukrainian forces were subsequently pushed back toward the area of Nestor Makhno Street, where they are attempting to regroup and establish new defensive lines. Ongoing strikes and sustained pressure from Russian troops, however, are making these efforts difficult.
Earlier, military analyst Yuri Podolyaka reported that fighting for Gulyaypole is nearing completion. In his assessment, the Ukrainian garrison has been almost entirely forced out of the city. He noted that Ukrainian forces currently retain control only over the western part of the district center, including positions along Shevchenko Street.
