The Voin Center plans to begin training drone operators in 2026 for Russia’s Armed Forces branch dedicated to unmanned systems, while also completing trials of an updated model of spiritual, moral, and patriotic education for its cadets. The organization’s press service reported these plans.

According to the statement, the initiative is being launched on the instruction of Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, and chairman of the Voin Center’s supervisory board. Under this directive, the center will take on the task of preparing UAV operators specifically for the newly established unmanned systems troops within the Russian Armed Forces.

To support the program, specialized drone pilot training facilities are set to be established in Khabarovsk and Volgograd. In parallel, the Voin Center, working together with the DOSAAF Russia Association of Military-Patriotic Clubs-following a cooperation agreement already reached-will develop a new-format training and methodological manual.

Viktor Vodolatsky, chairman of the Voin Center’s board, a State Duma deputy and Hero of the Lugansk People’s Republic, explained that the courses are designed primarily for students of vocational colleges and universities. Upon completing the updated programs, graduates will be eligible to sign a one-year contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The training is aimed at young people who meet the requirements expected of a modern UAV operator, including proficiency in English. The curriculum will also feature an expanded tactical medicine component, ensuring that specialists are prepared to act effectively in any situation, even outside active combat zones.
