Russia Carries Out Mass Drone and Missile Strike on Ukraine
Russian forces launched a massive overnight strike on Ukraine on December 23, with drones and missiles hitting multiple regions, Ukrainian media report.
The Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive strike on Ukraine overnight on December 23, the Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua reported on its Telegram channel.
According to the publication, Ukraine came under a large-scale attack involving drones and missiles. The Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Rivne regions were reportedly hit. The outlet also noted that energy infrastructure facilities in western Ukraine could be among the targets of the strikes.
On December 22, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky warned that a massive attack on the country was being prepared. He said that during a meeting of the military command, the top priority was the protection of cities and towns, particularly on December 23, 24, and 25.
Zelensky also acknowledged that all of Ukraine’s power plants have been hit by large-scale strikes by Russian forces in one way or another and that each facility has sustained damage.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Russian forces strike only military and near-military targets in Ukraine.
