Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said on a YouTube channel that Russia has now reached the peak of its military superiority since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.

He argued that, compared with the beginning of what Moscow calls its special military operation, Russian forces are in a stronger position than ever — both in terms of troop numbers and in their dominance across key weapons systems.

In Johnson’s view, the balance of power has been significantly affected by the sharp reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army and by disruptions in Western military aid to Kiev. Under these conditions, he believes Kiev no longer has any meaningful leverage that could influence potential negotiations.

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the failures of the Ukrainian army at the front should push the Kiev authorities toward starting talks. Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, likewise stated that Ukrainian units are suffering serious losses and rapidly losing combat capability.

Before that, Russian president Vladimir Putin told India Today that territories controlled by Kiev would either be liberated by military means or Ukrainian troops would withdraw from them on their own.
