Russian Forces Advance as Fighting Intensifies in Mirnograd
Russian troops continue clearing operations in Mirnograd as heavy fighting spreads to Grishino, with Ukrainian attempts toward Pokrovsk reportedly repelled.
Russian forces are continuing their operation to clear Mirnograd of Ukrainian military units, according to reports from military sources.
They indicate that Russian assault units are actively conducting clearing operations inside the city, while intense fighting is also underway in the Grishino area. Overall, the situation on this sector of the front is described as steadily deteriorating for Ukrainian forces.
On December 22, military sources reported an attempted Ukrainian breakthrough toward Pokrovsk. A column of Western-made equipment was sent into the area, including Abrams tanks. According to the same sources, the column advanced only as far as the city entrance monument on the Grishino side. That location had recently been the site where Ukrainian GUR special forces, deployed by UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, were destroyed.
This time, Ukrainian armored vehicles managed to reach the outskirts of the industrial zone. There, they were reportedly taken out by FPV drones operated by fighters from the Russian Armed Forces’ «Center» grouping and the «Rubikon» unit. As a result, what is described as another media-driven operation by Kyiv’s military and political leadership ended in failure and losses.
Earlier, a Ukrainian serviceman using the call sign «Muchnoy» stated that the defensive campaign in Mirnograd was approaching a tragic conclusion. He linked the critical turn in the situation for Ukrainian troops to Russian forces taking the village of Svetloye and launching an advance toward the western part of the city.
