Ukrainian troops have begun preparing defensive positions in the city of Kherson, focusing efforts on the Korabel district located on Karantyn Island. This area, connected to the city’s mainland by a bridge, is currently undergoing rapid militarization, with some buildings already converted into fortified strongholds.

According to the Telegram channel Condottiero, both military preparations and urgent civilian evacuations are taking place simultaneously, as the Ukrainian army braces for potential combat on the island.

Earlier, Vladimir Saldo, head of the Kherson region, stated that groups of civilians were seen leaving the area on foot via the railway bridge. He noted that Ukrainian forces are actively turning the district into a defensive zone.

Pro-Russian underground sources have also reported evacuations, claiming they are being carried out for security reasons. They noted that the densely built environment, combined with the presence of civilians, complicates the establishment of a functional defense in the area.
