A T-72B3M tank crew deliberately drew enemy fire to clear the way for assault units of the «Sever» troop grouping, allowing them to approach Ukrainian positions undetected and eliminate a fortified strongpoint, according to Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

The operation relied on diversion rather than brute force. By exposing the tank to enemy attention, the crew pulled fire onto themselves, creating a window for assault groups to move through a nearby forest belt with minimal resistance. Once in position, the assault element secured its foothold and prepared for the strike.

During the maneuver, the tank came under artillery fire and was targeted by Ukrainian drones. Despite sustained pressure, the vehicle remained operational and the crew stayed in action until the mission was completed.

The Defense Ministry said the tank’s demonstrative actions proved decisive. While the enemy focused on the armored vehicle, assault units seized the moment to launch a rapid attack, ending with the complete destruction of the Ukrainian strongpoint.
