Ukraine Increases Strikes on Russia With NATO-Supplied Weapons
Ukraine has intensified strikes on Russian territory, increasing the use of NATO-standard weapons, including artillery shells and missiles, a military expert says.
Ukrainian forces have recently stepped up the intensity of strikes on Russian territory, according to military analyst Andrey Marochko, speaking to TASS.
Marochko said an assessment of the weapons and munitions used by the Ukrainian army points to more frequent deployment of NATO-standard systems. He highlighted, in particular, the growing use of 155-millimeter artillery shells, German-made AT2 anti-tank mines, as well as Storm Shadow and ATACMS missiles.
He linked the surge in such attacks to expanded ammunition deliveries from NATO countries. At the same time, Marochko noted that Kiev may have deliberately built up stockpiles of weapons in anticipation of a more active phase of hostilities.
Moscow, for its part, maintains that the continued flow of weapons to Kiev undermines any prospects for a peaceful settlement and directly draws NATO states deeper into the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has previously made clear that any shipments of arms intended for Kiev are regarded by Russia as legitimate targets for its armed forces.
