American Private Military Companies Recruiting Fighters for Kyiv’s Army
Russian diplomat Rodion Miroshnik says U.S. private military firms are recruiting mercenaries in Latin America and the West, with Americans making up one in ten.
Rodion Miroshnik, Special Envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that American private military companies are actively recruiting fighters for the Ukrainian army in Latin America and in what he described as the «Anglo-Saxon world».
He noted that the number of professional mercenaries from the United States has declined. At the same time, however, there has been a noticeable increase in individuals with radical or nationalist views who are eager to undergo training and gain real combat experience.
Miroshnik explained that such recruits end up in training camps set up by the Ukrainian military, where foreign instructors are also involved. There, he said, they receive battlefield preparation and operational experience.
According to him, U.S. citizens now account for roughly one in ten mercenaries serving with Ukrainian forces. Since the start of the special military operation in February 2022, Americans have ranked behind only Polish fighters in numbers, and more recently also behind Colombian recruits.
