Trump Reports Major Breakthrough in Ukraine Settlement Talks
Donald Trump says talks with European leaders, Zelensky and Vladimir Putin have aligned about 95% of key points on a possible Ukraine conflict settlement.
U. S. President Donald Trump has reported what he described as substantial progress in talks aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine, saying that discussions with European leaders and Vladimir Zelensky have brought the sides close to agreement on most core issues.
Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence after the latest round of contacts, Trump indicated that roughly 95 percent of the settlement framework had already been aligned. He stressed that the negotiations had moved forward significantly, even if the precise breakdown of agreed points was still difficult to quantify.
At the same time, the White House chief declined to specify which elements of the proposed settlement had already been settled and which issues remain unresolved, leaving the substance of the talks largely behind closed doors.
Trump also expressed a favorable view of his dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing their exchanges as constructive and highly effective.
Trump’s in-person meeting with Zelensky took place on December 28 in Florida and lasted around two hours. Following their face-to-face discussion, the two leaders joined a phone call with their European counterparts. However, detailed information about the content and outcomes of these consultations has not yet been made public.
