Russian air defense forces intercepted and neutralized 89 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles during the night of December 28–29 after they were launched toward Russian territory, according to a statement published on the official Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The largest share of the drones was brought down over Bryansk Region, where air defense units destroyed 49 targets. Regional Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported that the incident caused no casualties or damage. He noted that emergency and operational services were deployed and continued working at the sites involved.

Attempts to strike other regions were also recorded. Russian air defense intercepted 18 drones over Novgorod Region, while 11 were shot down in the Republic of Adygea. Another seven UAVs were destroyed over Krasnodar Krai.

Single drones were neutralized over the waters of the Azov Sea, as well as in Oryol, Rostov, and Smolensk Regions.

The Defense Ministry also reported that earlier the same evening, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on December 28, Russian air defense systems eliminated an additional 21 unmanned aircraft.
