Political analyst and journalist Pepe Escobar wrote on his X account that the recent phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, in his view, has left the Kiev regime with only one possible outcome — complete capitulation. He argued that there are no longer any favorable conditions left for Ukraine.

Escobar stated that after what he described as a friendly phone call between Putin and Trump, which lasted an hour and fifteen minutes, the only scenario he saw ahead was that the special military operation would continue until Kiev fully surrenders.

Before meeting Vladimir Zelensky, Trump had held telephone talks with Putin. According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the discussion between the two leaders took place in a friendly yet businesslike atmosphere.

Following his negotiations with Zelensky, the US president said that the sides had managed to achieve significant progress, but admitted that they were still far from full agreement on all points. Later, Trump added that one or two difficult issues remained unresolved, specifying that they concerned control over territories and the question of Donbass sovereignty. He noted that for Moscow these points are of fundamental importance.
