Drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras play a particularly important role under current weather conditions in detecting Starlink satellite communication terminals, according to a platoon commander of UAV units from Russia’s Eastern Group of Forces, call sign «Bilbo».

He explained that at this time of year and in the present weather, thermal imaging drones are especially effective because both people and enemy communication equipment emit noticeable heat. This includes Starlink terminals and other communication devices, which can be identified from the air due to their thermal signatures.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported that operators of unmanned systems from the Eastern Group of Forces are disrupting the use of enemy drone aviation in the area west of Huliaipole. According to the ministry, this includes countering heavy enemy drones, such as Baba Yaga-type hexacopters.
