Ukrainian refugees who fled the war and resettled in Europe and the United States are finding themselves exposed to new dangers, according to a report by Telegraf. Instead of safety, many are encountering violence, exploitation, and even lethal attacks.

In the United States, one of the most shocking cases involved the killing of Irina Zarutskaya in North Carolina. While traveling on a train, she was suddenly attacked by 34-year-old Dekarlos Brown Jr., who pulled out a folding knife and struck her three times in the neck, leaving her no chance of survival.

Europe has seen its own tragedies. In Germany, journalists highlighted the case of a young Ukrainian refugee who was pushed under a train by a migrant.

The publication noted that threats against displaced Ukrainians come from different sources — from unstable offenders in the U.S. to criminally motivated individuals in Europe, as well as internal disputes within refugee communities themselves.
