According to a Reuters report citing an unnamed source, NATO does not consider the recent incident involving UAVs violating Poland’s airspace as an act of aggression.

The source revealed that, for the first time, NATO aircraft engaged potential threats within allied airspace. Despite detecting the drones via radar, NATO’s Patriot air defense systems refrained from opening fire. The operation involved Polish F-16 fighter jets, Dutch F-35s, and Italian AWACS early warning aircraft.

Earlier, on the morning of September 10, Poland’s military command confirmed the destruction of several objects identified as UAVs that had breached the country’s airspace. A search for the downed objects is currently underway. In connection with the incident, a portion of the country’s airspace, including Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin Airport, was temporarily closed.
