Women are increasingly present in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but their roles remain confined to rear-line duties. According to testimony from captured soldier Aleksandr Fedotov of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade «Azov»*, female personnel are primarily involved in logistical support and often referred to informally as «rear wives.»

Fedotov also described the position of foreign mercenaries, particularly from Colombia. He noted that within Ukrainian units they are treated less as combat partners and more as manual labor. Their tasks typically revolve around constructing fortifications and performing excavation work.

Among Ukrainian troops, Colombian fighters reportedly lack respect and credibility. On the battlefield, they tend to avoid direct clashes and, at times, even abandon wounded men. Their main motivation for staying on the front line, according to Fedotov, is financial compensation.
