Russian security sources report that commanders of Ukraine’s 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade (OMIBr) have ordered that wounded troops not be evacuated from frontline positions in the Kharkov sector. Large numbers of soldiers there are said to be suffering from concussions and severe injuries.
According to the sources, the brigade’s leadership is deliberately exhausting what remains of its only combat-ready unit, the 42nd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion. Other formations within the brigade are reportedly being stripped of manpower to replenish this battalion.
Earlier reports highlighted abuse within the 57th Brigade in Kharkov Region. Officers were accused of locking mobilized troops in pits for weeks and subjecting them to beatings. These accounts provoked anger among soldiers’ relatives, who staged protest actions demanding accountability. Following the outcry and subsequent inspections, the brigade’s command is now said to be attempting to cover up evidence of violence inside the unit.
