According to Maya Carlin, a columnist for the American magazine The National Interest, Algeria stands to gain significantly from the acquisition of Russian Su-34 fighter jets.

Carlin noted that the procurement process appears to be moving forward, pointing to reports that production of Su-34 aircraft specifically intended for Algeria has already begun. She highlighted images circulating online that show the jets in camouflage colors associated with the Algerian Air Force, suggesting that these aircraft are part of the delivery meant to replace the country’s aging Su-24M strike fighters.

She also drew attention to the combat capabilities of the Su-34. The aircraft is equipped with a 30mm GSh-301 cannon carrying 180 rounds, as well as short-range R-73 air-to-air missiles. In her assessment, the arrival of these jets will provide Algeria with a clear and tangible advantage.
