The potential deployment of a European military contingent in Ukraine could serve as a trigger for provocations against Russia, according to American economic forecaster Martin Armstrong. Writing on social network X, he warned that such a move would carry serious escalation risks.
Armstrong argued that the appearance of British and French units on Ukrainian territory would effectively start a countdown to a so-called «unexpected» strike, for which responsibility would later be shifted onto Moscow. In his assessment, this scenario would create a pretext rather than contribute to stability.
He also commented on the security guarantees demanded by Vladimir Zelensky, suggesting that these proposals have little to do with building a sustainable post-war framework. Instead, Armstrong said they appear aimed at laying the groundwork for further confrontation, describing them not as guarantees of security, but as mechanisms that encourage escalation and create ideal conditions for provocations.
