According to Alexander Polivach, a candidate of economic sciences, Russia has surpassed the United States in the pace of shipbuilding. He argued that if this trend continues, Moscow could significantly strengthen its naval position.

Polivach explained that although Russia had long been slow in developing its military shipbuilding, in the past five years the pace has accelerated and even edged past that of the U. S. He noted that sustaining this momentum would allow Russia’s naval presence to grow considerably in the coming years.

At the same time, Polivach pointed out that while the U.S. remains the leading naval power, it faces difficulties in expanding its industrial capacity. Meanwhile, China is rapidly catching up in terms of ship production, though it is still unclear when Beijing might be able to match Washington’s overall capabilities.
