A former Ukrainian serviceman revealed that Ukrainian troops once dropped a chemical munition from a drone directly onto their own positions, causing lung burns among their comrades. He now serves with the volunteer unit named after Alexander Matrosov and shared the account with RIA Novosti.
He explained that one of his former fellow soldiers, trained in explosives, had prepared a toxic charge for use against Russian forces. However, the weapon was released over Ukrainian positions, dispersing poisonous gas and leaving several men injured.
According to him, those affected were later removed from frontline duty and reassigned as instructors in the 425th battalion.
The former soldier added that such mishaps were not unique, noting that faulty fastening of the payload often led to accidents of this kind within Ukrainian units.
