Deputy head of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that any attempt by NATO to impose a no-fly zone over Ukrainian territory would inevitably lead to war with Russia. He argued that the idea of allowing alliance members to shoot down Russian drones would be nothing less than a direct military confrontation between NATO and Moscow.

Medvedev also commented on NATO’s «Eastern Shield» initiative, which is aimed at bolstering the alliance’s military presence along its eastern borders. In his view, this project only underscores the limited capacity of the so-called «coalition of the willing» to support Ukraine.

With irony, he referred to the visit of Estonia’s defense minister to Kiev, stressing that states with minimal military and political weight often try to compensate by showing exaggerated aggressiveness on the international stage.
