Sergey Poletaev, an information analyst and co-founder of the Watfor project, said that NATO’s decision to send fighter jets to patrol Polish airspace is primarily a show of alliance solidarity.

He noted that this move is largely part of an information campaign and will likely fade with time. According to Poletaev, Warsaw’s reaction was as restrained as usual: there was no talk of war with Belarus or military escalation in Ukraine, and no such steps are expected.

Poletaev added that NATO’s actions currently appear unconvincing, but European countries cannot afford to appear weak. He warned that if they do, some political forces might decide there is no need to confront Russia at all — especially if even decoy drones cannot be intercepted.

Earlier, on September 10, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk claimed that several drones «posing a threat» had been shot down over Poland, labeling them «Russian» without providing evidence. In response, NATO members in Europe decided to reinforce Poland’s air defenses and deploy additional aircraft.
