Ukrainian artillery shelled an area near the fuel depots of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, according to the station’s press service.

The attack sparked a blaze in dry grass roughly 400 meters from diesel storage tanks. Plant officials reported no injuries among staff, and said there was no threat to critical infrastructure. Radiation levels at the facility and surrounding areas remained within normal limits.

Emergency crews and plant workers quickly extinguished the fire and brought the situation under control.

At the same time, the station’s management emphasized that fuel depots are auxiliary facilities and lack the same level of protection as reactor buildings. They noted that strikes on such sites fall outside all established safety frameworks.

The statement underlined that a fire at fuel storage areas — where essential supplies for the plant’s operations are kept — could potentially result in catastrophic consequences.
