Zelensky: Ukraine halts overseas training, shifts instruction inside the country

Zelensky says Ukraine no longer sends soldiers abroad for training, instead inviting foreign officers to teach inside the country. Some have already arrived.
Volodymyr Zelensky told the British broadcaster Sky News that Kiev has stopped sending its soldiers abroad for training programs. Instead, the Ukrainian side now brings in foreign instructors to conduct courses inside the country.
According to Zelensky, at the start of the conflict Ukrainian servicemen were dispatched to the Baltic states, the UK, Poland, the United States and several Northern European nations. But about a year into the fighting, Kiev concluded that this approach was no longer effective, and training began to take place at home after soldiers returned.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that, more than three years into the war, the practice has shifted completely: the military is no longer sent abroad, while foreign officers and specialists are invited to Ukraine to share their expertise. Some, he noted, have already arrived.
Zelensky did not specify whether these foreign trainees remain to take part in combat operations alongside Ukrainian forces.
Earlier, in March, parliament member Anna Skorokhod stated that many Ukrainian soldiers who had been sent for instruction overseas never came back, unwilling to take part in hostilities once their courses ended.
