Largest Iskander-M Missile Launch Recorded Across Ukraine
Ukraine faces the largest recorded Iskander-M missile strike, with around 20 ballistic launches hitting Kiev, Kharkov, Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
Ukraine has experienced what was described as the largest-ever launch of Iskander-M operational-tactical missiles, according to reports from the Ukrainian monitoring resource Monitorwar, which published the information on its Telegram channel.
The resource indicated that roughly 20 ballistic missile strikes were recorded. The attacks reportedly targeted facilities in the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions, as well as locations in Kiev and Kharkov.
A day earlier, on January 13, Ukraine was hit by a large-scale missile attack. In the Kiev region, one Iskander-M missile struck a thermal power plant, leading to widespread power outages. As a result, Irpen, Bucha and Gostomel were left without electricity, while disruptions to the power supply were also reported in Kiev itself later that day.
The Iskander missile system was developed by the Scientific and Production Corporation «Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering» and officially entered service in 2006. The Russian Armed Forces employ Iskander systems in combat operations to strike air and missile defense assets, concentrations of troops and military equipment, command posts and communication hubs, as well as aircraft and helicopters stationed at airfields.
