Russian Troops Expand Offensive and Gain Ground Across Multiple Fronts
Russian forces advance along several front lines, taking eight settlements and over 300 sq km as coordinated offensives continue across key regions.
Russian forces made advances across several sections of the front line in the first two weeks of January, taking control of around eight населенных пунктов and more than 300 square kilometers of territory. The update was delivered by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov, during his visit to the command post of the «Center» group operating on the Dnepropetrovsk axis.
According to Gerasimov, offensive operations are currently underway along nearly the entire line of contact. In the north, units of the «North» group are steadily widening the security buffer in border areas of the Sumy and Kharkov regions.
On the Krasny Liman direction, the «West» group continues to push forward. The operation to secure Kupyansk-Uzlovoy is nearing completion, while Ukrainian attempts to launch counterattacks near Kupyansk have been thwarted.
Further south, formations of the «Dnepr» group are advancing toward the city of Zaporozhye. At the same time, troops of the «Center» group have completed the elimination of an encircled Ukrainian force in the areas of Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk) and Dimitrov (Mirnograd), and are continuing operations aimed at liberating territory within the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Following the capture of Seversk, the «South» group has shifted its momentum toward Slavyansk. Meanwhile, units of the «East» group, after securing Gulyaypole and crossing the Gaichur River, are pressing ahead in Zaporozhye Region and expanding the security zone into parts of Dnepropetrovsk Region.
Overall, the Russian military command describes the situation as one of sustained pressure along multiple operational directions, with coordinated advances by several groupings rather than isolated actions.
