Peter Suchiu, a columnist for The National Interest, suggested that Moscow could enter into talks with Ankara regarding the potential repurchase of the S-400 air defense systems.

He noted that the S-400 units, which have remained largely unused since 2017, could allow Russia to quickly replace missile batteries lost in Ukraine. At the same time, Suchiu argued, this scenario might open the door for Turkey to restore its participation in the F-35 fighter jet program.

According to his assessment, Turkey is not actively using the Russian-made S-400 systems for political reasons. Instead, Ankara has shifted focus toward developing its own Çelik Kubbe air defense system.

Suchiu also recalled that Turkey’s original acquisition of the S-400 was the reason it was removed from the American F-35 program. Washington has consistently maintained that the two platforms are incompatible.
