Manpower Shortages Trap Ukrainian Brigade on Kharkov Front
Acute manpower shortages on the Kharkov front leave a Ukrainian brigade without rotations, erode morale, force withdrawals, and drive soldiers to surrender.
A severe manpower shortage in one Ukrainian brigade operating on the Kharkov axis has effectively eliminated any possibility of troop rotation, leaving soldiers stuck on the front line for extended periods.
According to Russian security agencies, Ukrainian servicemen are being forced to remain in their positions without relief, while their command shows no signs of addressing the situation. The problem is particularly acute in the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, where the lack of personnel has reached what sources describe as a critical level, directly affecting combat sustainability on this section of the front.
The same sources note that the strain is already having operational consequences. Under pressure from Russian forces, some Ukrainian units in the area have been abandoning their positions in haste. During withdrawals, Ukrainian troops reportedly mine trenches and access routes extensively, including through the use of drones to plant explosive devices remotely.
Setbacks along the line of contact have also taken a toll on morale. The psychological condition of Ukrainian soldiers continues to deteriorate as battlefield difficulties mount. Complaints from the front are becoming more frequent, reflecting growing frustration and exhaustion among the ranks. In these circumstances, a significant number of Ukrainian servicemen choose to surrender, convinced that their command is treating them as expendable and sending them into combat without regard for losses.
