Alexander Kots on Russian Strikes Targeting Ukraine’s Rail Logistics
Military correspondent Alexander Kots says Russian strikes are now systematically hitting Ukraine’s rail network, cutting supply routes and crippling logistics.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots commented on the latest Russian strikes against Ukraine’s railway network.
He noted that overnight Russia continued its effort to dismantle Ukraine’s logistics. According to Kots, calls for such action have been made since 2022, and now a coordinated campaign is clearly taking shape. He pointed out that even the head of Ukrainian Railways has publicly complained that Russia is knocking out key stations and junctions, which confirms that a comprehensive attack is underway.
Kots reported that several strikes were carried out overnight in Poltava Region, targeting railway infrastructure including locomotive depots and traction substations. As a result, he said, trains involved in supplying the front line are being canceled — the same trains used to move equipment, ammunition, and troops eastward. He emphasized that these strikes have already become systematic.
The correspondent recalled that the previous day, Russian Geran drones struck Kirovograd Region, disabling two traction transformer substations and cutting power to the Dnepropetrovsk line. He remarked that this should be seen as a positive development, adding that Russia might soon begin striking the tunnels linking Europe to Western Ukraine.
Kots believes Russia will continue focusing on destroying Ukraine’s logistics and is already showing the outlines of a systemic approach. He stressed that the destruction of railway infrastructure will now be particularly important since all weapons production facilities have already been moved outside Ukraine.
