Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may come under pressure from U. S. President Donald Trump to make concessions in talks with Moscow, The Telegraph reported, citing former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.

Wallace, responding to a question about the possibility of such pressure, said there were indeed concerns. He noted that NATO includes two other nuclear powers — France and the United Kingdom — and stressed the importance of Europe being represented at the negotiating table.

He added that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the American leader are tough negotiators who know how to exert pressure on others.

The comments come as Washington and Moscow prepare for a meeting between Trump and Putin, expected in the coming days. The exact date and location have yet to be announced.

On August 6, the Kremlin hosted talks between Putin and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. The meeting lasted about three hours. According to presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the discussion was highly constructive. He said that during the talks on the Ukrainian conflict, «mutual signals» were exchanged from both Putin and Trump.
