Military analyst and retired navy captain first rank Vasily Dandykin says the Russian tank support fighting vehicle «Terminator» is actively backing up Russian infantry units in the special military operation zone.

He recalls that the vehicle was developed on the chassis of the T-90 tank. The BMPT is armed with a 30 mm cannon, anti-tank guided missiles, automatic grenade launchers and a machine gun.

Quoted by Lenta.ru, Dandykin noted that relatively few of these vehicles have been produced so far, but in his view they have performed well in terms of destroying targets, especially under current combat conditions, which makes it likely that production is being continued.

He argues that knocking out a «Terminator» is very difficult, since the vehicle has substantial armour protection that is being further reinforced. According to Dandykin, the combination of firepower and survivability allows the BMPT to work effectively both against armoured targets and against fortified enemy strongpoints.

Earlier, Russian servicemen in the special military operation zone reported that the «Terminator» is used for narrowly defined missions, such as covering assault units. They also said the BMPT is particularly effective when operating against tree lines, as its rapid-firing 30 mm guns can quite literally cut trees down to the stump.
